Ernest E. Wickersham

Communications, Navigation, Surveillance &
Air Traffic Management Specialist

Mr. Wickersham has extensive FAA, ICAO, consulting, and military experience in aviation and air traffic in the U.S. and abroad. He has been ASI's Team Leader on the East African Community GPS/GNSS Implementation Technical Assistance project and Project Manager on ASI's Jordan Airspace Modernization Plan. Ernie was the ASI Air Traffic Services Expert on the Y2K Contingency Training for the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority.

His FAA experience includes planning, procedures, training, management, supervisory, military liaison, and control positions in Center, Tower, and Approach Control facilities and Regional Headquarters in the Southern, Great Lakes, and Pacific regions. He began his ATC career in the U.S. Navy as a tower controller at Naval Air Stations Coco Solo, Panama and Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. He returned to Roosevelt Roads later as the FAA/Navy Liaison Officer Caribbean and was an FAA Designated Examiner for Roosevelt Roads Tower and Approach.

Ernie was the U.N./ICAO Project Manager at Mogadishu Airport in 1993. Other ICAO assignments have included:

  • Air Traffic Planning Instructor/Adviser at the Brazil Institute of Flight Protection.
  • Supervisor Instructor at the Bangkok Civil Aviation Training Center.
  • Inter-Country Expert in the Bangkok Far East & Pacific Regional Office.
  • Terminal Planning/Facility Management Adviser in Nepal, Afghanistan, & Thailand
He was an FAA Team member of the USAF and FAA Korea National Airspace System Improvement Study.

Ernest is an active, current pilot and holds FAA Commercial, Instrument/Multi-engine Flight Instructor, seaplane, and Aircraft Dispatcher certificates. He has developed and instructed flight, ground, and computer applications courses at Vincennes & Purdue Universities at the Aviation Technology Center in Indianapolis. He has been Director of Aviation and Naval Executive Officer at Culver Military Academy summer camps. He has also had U.N., U.S. Department of State, and Organization for Security & Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) humanitarian and democratization assignments in Bangladesh, Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Russia, and Croatia.
