ASI was founded in 1986 to provide security expertise to the international civil aviation community. In addition to its services to air carriers and airports, ASI has provided services to secure government facilities, advised the private and commercial sectors, and designed installations to meet head-of state security requirements. ASI is located in Chantilly, Virginia at the Southeast corner of Washington Dulles International Airport with easy access to Washington, D.C. ASI is neither affiliated with, nor owned by, any other company. ASI's office capabilities include a network of computers and associated peripheral equipment, e.g., laser printers, engineering plotters, etc. ASI has full engineering design capability, with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) licenses, Internet Homepage and E-Mail addresses, etc.

The staff is equally divided between engineering and security analysts. ASI can also call on the services of a talented group of associate corporations, and associate employees, whose disciplines range from communications, computer science, scientific analyses, law enforcement, to intelligence analysis and military operations. ASI operations are approximately 70% international and 30% domestic. ASI prides itself with having addressed security issues at some of the newer international airports, e.g. Denver (US) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Inchon (Korea) as well as at some of the more difficult locations in the world, e.g. Beirut International Airport.
